Our first few nights in Bali ( apart from half a night at the Novotel Airport Hotel when we arrived in Bali ) we spend at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua, where we got invited for 2 nights to check out their uber family-friendly holiday concept.
We’re normally not really resort kinda people, but we really loved the idea of staying at the Westin Nusa Dua to chill out after our trip up to Bali, catch up with (o)pa and (o)ma, and have some great things to do for Sem.
Arriving at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua
The Westin Nusa Dua is a Luxury 5-star resort straight on the beach and heaven for families with kids who want a careless family holiday.
Not only families but also honeymooners, traveling couples who are looking for 5 star luxury and business people will enjoy all that the Westin Nusa Dua has to offer.
We got a complimentary airport transfer to the Westin Nusa Dua, which took around 25 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport by car.
As soon as we came through the doors at the Westin we knew we were in for a treat. The entrance is amazing featuring a colossal artwork hanging from the roof with 5000 handmade glass ornaments, which they hung up one by one. The design and furniture are beautiful and everyone was ( as almost everywhere in Bali ) very friendly and welcoming.
Check in went very smooth while we enjoyed our welcome drink and we even got an upgrade to a premium family room with connecting doors.
The Premium Room at Westin Nusa Dua
At first, we were allocated a Premium Room for us and a Deluxe Room for (o)pa and (o)ma, but during check in they asked if we would like an upgrade to a Premium Room connecting Family Room, which was 2 Premium Rooms with a little living room with a couch and a tv in the middle. Perfect! Yes Please 🙂
The rooms were beautiful, spacious ( 48 Square meters) had everything you can expect from a 5-star luxury hotel. A lovely stylish designed bathroom with a spacious rain shower for the whole family, a lovely bath, bathrobes and beauty essentials.
The room had a glass front balcony with open views, a sitting area with a family couch, walk-in closet, a massive king size bed where we could fit in horizontal or vertical ( which Sem was doing both 😉 )
If you prefer two double beds rather than one king size bed, that is an option to at the Westin Nusa Dua.
We had free fast working WIFI and a lovely workstation with fresh flowers, marble bench tops and everything you need.
What we loved about the Westin Nusa Dua
The Westin Resort is located in a bay where the ocean is quiet, which is perfect for the kids. There are daybeds, a bar and a towel service for your convenience.
What we also really loved, where the massive gardens and the amount of space around the resort. How many times did we stay in hotels where our view was either a concrete wall or our neighbor’s balcony, but at the Westin Nusa Dua it’s one big open green oasis.
Restaurants at the Westin Nusa Dua
There were six restaurants we could choose from, but we tried only tree of them during our stay at the Westin Resort.
- Hamabe
Hamabe combines modern and authentic Japanese cuisine and features a robata grill, a traditional cooking method used by the fishermen of northern Japan. You can also opt for sushi, sashimi, or teppanyaki, which will be cooked right in front of you.
- Seasonal Tastes
This was the restaurant where we had our breakfast in the morning. We definitely recommend that you book your room at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua with breakfast as this was a real treat and a great way to start our day.
Seasonal Tastes features operate by an open kitchen concept, which will set off your taste buds with live cooking stations serving cuisine from every corner of the world. Name a dish, and you can be pretty sure, you will find it at Seasonal Tastes.
We even had one of the chefs, who poached our eggs on the spot to our liking, bringing the eggs personally to our table when they were ready.
- Prego
At Prego, you can find delicious authentic Italian cuisine served in a pretty designed space. We went for their pizza’s and they were pretty good with a thin bottom and royal topping, exactly how the perfect pizza should be 🙂
Chef Alessandro Molini, which we personally met, and his team are doing a great job!
Prego Restaurant is also famous for their weekly Funday Family Brunch on Sundays. This is when the entire family can enjoy delicious food, entertainment for young and old and great vibes. For the little ones, there are many indoor and outdoor activities supervised by the Westin Family Kids Club team.
The Other restaurants and bars; Velada Tapas Bar, Ikan Restaurant and The Lobby Bar and Lounge, which we didn’t try also looked very good.
Families at the Westin Nusa Dua
The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali has repeatedly been awarded as the premier resort for family holidays in Bali and we can easily see why.
From the comfortable family suite, connecting rooms, the Kids Club programs and menu especially for kids, the resort is designed for the enjoyment of families with many family-friendly activities like:
- Creative activities as well as educational games at the Westin Family Kids Club
- All-inclusive access to the Eat Well menu and beverages throughout the resort for kids aged 12 or under with the SPG Kids Pass
- Relaxation after a day full of adventures with Heavenly Spa by Westin’s age-appropriate spa treatments for kids ( Yes, you read that right… Spa treatments for kids! )
The Kids club at the Westin Nusa Dua
The Westin Family Kids Club is a supervised center with games, toys, and enriching activities to give parents complete peace of mind and kids a great experience.
Renowned as one of the most family-friendly resorts in Bali, the Westin Nusa Dua has a spacious outdoor playground and organizes fun activities for children between the ages of 4 and 12.
Children under the age of 4 years including toddlers who are still wearing diapers will not be allowed access to the facility even with an adult or parental supervision. As an exception to this rule, children between 2-4 years who are toilet trained and no longer need diapers will be welcome to visit the Kids Club when accompanied by an adult. This measure has been put in place to ensure the safety of health and hygiene of all the young guests in the resort.
Sem loved his short visit to the kids club, but he decided he was more interested in the swimming pools haha.
The Spa at the Westin Nusa Dua
During the tour of the hotel, we also had a look at the Spa. As soon as we walked in, I felt relaxed. The smell and the minimalistic design together with the soft music and the interior make you instantly feel calm.
They have everything in store to make sure you have a relax and rejuvenating experience and offer a complimentary steam room, Himalayan salt-sauna, hydro pool, and a warm shower before your treatments to relax and warm your muscles.
There are various spa treatments to choose from and The Westin Nusa Dua even offers a kids spa where you can treat your little ones with a massage, mini facials, and mani-pedis, hair braiding and nail art. With all treatments they use child-friendly products.
Swimming pools at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua
There are three pools including a large salt water pool in a tropical setting, a 12-meter waterslide in a freshwater pool for kids 4 to 12-year-old and an exclusive and separate swimming pool for Premium Guests only. Both also have kids splash pools.
The swimming pools are surrounded by Tropical vegetation that really adds to the holiday feeling. There are many daybeds, so no need to wake up at 05.00 am to put your towel on a chair to ‘reserve’ it 😉
Other facilities at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua
The Westin Resort has several other great facilities to enjoy during your stay like their gym, the living room – where you can work or relax -, free games and pool tables, a shopping arcade and many great art features throughout the hotel to look at.

Verdict on the Westin Nusa Dua Resort
The only thing we wouldn’t recommend is taking the taxi provided by Westin but call a metered taxi instead. We got charged 220.000 IDR from the Westin Nusa Dua Resort to Jimbaran, which is waaaay to high, but yes, it was convenient at that point and even though we’ve been to Bali four times, we had to find out what the average taxi prices were these days. Whoops! 😉
Overall, we had a great experience and it was the perfect place to relax, chill and have a good time with our family at the start of our Bali trip.
Good to hear Tia!
