If you love a good waterfall, the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland, Australia, is one of the places to get your yearly waterfall dose. You can drive here all day and chase many waterfalls in the region.

During our trip in the Atherton Tablelands, we focussed on the popular waterfalls circuit  in the Southern Tablelands.

A very scenic and stunning route will lead you along Millaa Millaa Waterfalls, Zillie Falls and Ellinjaa Falls. The Millaa Millaa Waterfall is the most famous of the Waterfall Circuit, but the other 2 are definitely worth visiting too.

Millaa Millaa Waterfalls

The 18 meter Millaa Millaa Falls are the most famous and incredibly photogenic. Not only the waterfall itself but also the surroundings are beautiful and depending on the season very colourful with flowers and plants. I ( Jo )  visited the Millaa Millaa waterfall before in 2008 and the difference in scenery is great to see between then and now, 8 years later.

Zillie Falls

Only 7.5km from Millaa Millaa Falls you’ll this massive one. When you follow the path from the parking area you will first see the waterfall from above, but if you follow the path down, you can have a great swim and refresh in the rock

Ellinjaa Falls

A further 3km along the waterfall circuit from Zillie Falls.  We found this the most serene of the 3. There are picnic tables next to the parking area, which makes a great lunch spot if you want to skip the hustle at the bussier Millaa Millaa Waterfalls. The track to the water fall and rock pool at the base of Elinjaa Falls brings you great rainforest nature. There are  quite a few steps to take to reach the Elinjaa Falls, but it`s well worth it because you get rewarded with this amazing water fall.
