A few weeks ago, I got asked in an interviewed which destinations were on my travel bucket list. My answer was simple: everything we haven’t seen yet!
This list is seriously never-ending ( and so is my ‘general’ to do list 😉 but of course we have a few things partying together on top of the travel bucket list. Road tripping in the USA & Canada, Visiting Japan in autumn and Spring, chilling out at the Cook Islands, Flying around the world ( which was our plan for this year, but then we decided to go on a Europe Road trip and buy a caravan and move further down in Australia ) and a proper visit to London ( rather than a christmas shopping day ) are a few of the many destinations.
A couple of days after the interview, coincidentally, I got introduced by one of our clients to the London High Flying Helicopter. I have been to London before on an impulsive really short Christmas shopping trip where my friend and I spend more time traveling to and from London, than actually spending time there. We travelled from the Netherlands to Calais, in France, to take the ferry to Dover, Great Britain, then the bus to London, spend a few hours there, drove around in the Big Bus and did the entire journey back home again. Yes it was cheap, but I definitely have to return to London, as there is so much more to discover.
Discover London like you’ve never seen it before
The High Flying Helicopter will give you a bird’s-eye view of the entire city of London. I would never even think of doing that, till I got introduced to these guys of the High Flying Helicopter. How cool would it be to see London from a total different perspective? Seeing The Thames, The Big Ben, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, The London Eye and the British Museum from above.
Helicopter tours can be either shared or private. With a shared flight, you and up to five other travellers will embark on this epic tour together.
Probably I would not be that enthusiast anymore, if I would actually sit in a helicopter ready for take off as I am not a big hero with helicopters and light planes. Lion would love it though, and even Sem, who is obsessed by helicopters.
As we lived close by the ( tourist ) boulevard and hospital in Cairns and also in Airlie Beach, where helicopters take off several times a day, it is something more familiar for him, than seeing someone riding a bike, like in the Netherlands.
Become a Pilot with the High Flying Helicopter
You have to try everything possible in live right? Why not go for a helicopter flying lesson? Well not for me, as I suck at maths, but if you are keen and have an interest in flying, the High Flying Helicopter also offers flight lessons. A great gift or thing to do for helicopter enthusiasts.
After a safety and instructional briefing, you will take off for a moment full of adrenaline. The pilot will explain things to you during your flight and if you are lucky and the environment is 100 % safe for you, you can try flying for yourself!
If you are really into it, and want to become a real helicopter pilot, this would also be a great start, as these flights at the High Flying Helicopter also count towards obtaining your helicopter pilot license.
This lesson is suitable for anyone over 10 years old. OMG!? Do I imagine Sem flying a helicopter in 8 years…Hahaha, Well he is an Outback kid, full of adventure, so probably yes..
Helicopter Proposal at the High Flying Helicopter
Ready to ask your beloved to marry you? If so, congratulations! She or He will probably say yes, so why not make this moment an extra special one. At High Flying Helicopter they are more than happy to make your proposal a completely unforgettable event, something that you and your future husband / wife will cherish long after the day he/she says, “I Do.”
Your unsuspected future husband/wife, will be most certainly thrilled but the the idea of an adventurous helicopter tour ( make sure he/she doesn’t hate flying 😉
The crew of the High Flying Helicopter can make your proposal as special as you wish. Want to land at a romantic spot to pop the question? No worries! Or make this trip extra special by landing at a luxurious hotel, like the Bailiffscourt Hotel, Eastwell Manor or the Chewton Glen? Be their guest! Want large letters on the ground spelling ” will you marry me?” No problem! Want to fly to Paris and pop the question at the Eiffel Tower? Sure!
Weddings with the High Flying Helicopter
So, your proposal is done, she or he said; ‘Yes I do’! Well done! Now it is time to prepare the wedding! The High Flying Helicopter team can help you with this as well!
Arrive in style with a helicopter, or why not leave the wedding in a helicopter instead of a car with empty baked bean tins behind it? You can even choose to fly to Amsterdam or Paris and directly enjoy your honeymoon. The crew at the High Flying Helicopter can arrange champagne, flowers, chocolate and basically anything you wish for to celebrate in style.
Private Helicopter Rental
If you want to see some great Aerial Captures of photographer Jeffrey Millstein, who privately rented a helicopter to capture London from above, click here ! His photo’s are truly amazing. If you are a photographer as well, planning on aerial filming, this is a great way to do it! \
Or are you planning something special? A private event, music festival, conference, or business trip? You can also hire a private helicopter. Not much ways of transport are more convenient, luxurious and comfortable as a helicopter right?

Hi Rima.
You are more than welcome 🙂
I am not a star with flying either, but I think the adrenaline of a helicopter tour above London will help to forget our fears!
Jo
Wow, what a view from the helicopter!!! I would love to have helicopter ride, but I am scary of high point. I hope will do at least once in my life. Thanks for inspiring.
Hi Mal!
Hahah yes your other comment came trough as well 😉
London is definitely on the bucket list, and visiting in Summer would be a super idea! Exploring, having a drink in the sun, relax in the park… When I see your post on your Instagram, I think we could spend a month in London, or 2, or a year 😉
Enjoy your week!
X Jo
…ok, forget about it, it did show up, my internet must have got stuck! Sorry for the spam!!!
Oh wow, looks like they’ve got everything covered! Must be such a cool experience to actually see the entire city from above! Btw I was trying to reply to your comment on the previous post and it didn’t show up for some reason 🙁 Still, just wanted to say that I am super happy and excited to hear that London is on your bucket list, would be amazing to meet up and show you around a bit, especially in the summer when the city is even nicer 🙂
Mal x
It could have been the London Eye 😉 But even that won’t reach that hight. It definitely is a unique way to explore London.
You definitely got the best view of London that I’ve ever seen. I was wondering at first what building you were inside before figuring out the picture was taken from a helicopter when I saw the title of the post. This seems like an exciting way to see London or any city really but there is lots of cool landmarks in London for sure.
Thank you Archana! Glad you liked it 🙂
Enjoy your day.
Jo
Wow! What a brilliantly different view to see London. Stunning pictures and vivid description. Love it.
Hahah, I know that feeling Micki.
You ve been somewhere, and then you read or see something great about that destination, you didn’t see or know of before, so you kinda have to go back one day 😉
And yes, that travel bucket list.. Never ending 😉
Have a great day!
Jo
Hey Mike!
Exactly right! It is a total different perspective of London from the air.
Are you a photographer as well? Let me know your website if so, would love to see your work!
Cheers
Jo
Ok, now I have to go back to London and take a helicopter tour! I am just like you, my travel bucket list is everywhere lol.
I’d love to view London from the air, the photographic opportunities would next level amazing. I also love that photograph of Westminster. I’ve taken many a photo in that exact spot.
Hi Amanda,
You are more than welcome! Glad you liked it and you discovered something new to do in London 🙂
Jo
Didn’t even know there were helicopter tours over London and I lived there for almost 3 years! Great tip.
Exactly! So much great things to see in London, and this makes it a whole different experience.
Hi Kat! I am the same 🙂 Although the last few years I am not a real hero in flying on a plane either 😉
No worries! Happy you liked it Sonam 🙂
Wow! What a great experience to get to have in London !! And what a great city to experience it in, too 🙂
Helicopters freak me out a little, I’ve only been in one once and it’s a great experience, I just feel a little less safe than in a plane? It’s ridiculous. But I love some of these ideas!
Wow this looks like a fun thing to do in London. Would love to try it out. Thanks for sharing Xx
Hi Megan!
That would defiantly be a great entrance to arrive at your wedding in a helicopter!
I think that a lot of people think a helicopter is really expensive, and of course it is an expensive form of transport, it is also a unique once in a lifetime experience. The prices at the High Flying Helicopter are actually pretty good value 🙂
Jo
Hi Indrani,
I think flying in a helicopter is a once in a lifetime experience! Especially with those stunning views over London! Maybe one day your dream will come true 🙂
Have a good weekend!
Jo
Hi Danik,
Wow that must be awesome to live in London 🙂 Well, maybe you have a special event coming up sometime, where you can arrive in style with a helicopter! How cool would that be 😉
Have a great weekend!
Jo
My Fiancé keeps talking about arriving to our wedding in a helicopter. I thought it would be a fun idea, but didn’t think people actually would do it!
View from a helicopter over London… that for sure will be exhilarating! I can only dream! 🙂
Definitely worth an experience.
I have flown over central London on a plane (on the main landing route from the east) but going in a helicopter must be a totally different view, one I would love to try out as a local 🙂
